GLOVE box
Glove Box is a responsive piece to my friend Josi’s experiences with claustrophobia. Claustrophobia often feels tactile and interactive as the space you feels restricted. This box situates the audience into an uncomfortable claustrophobic experience.

The box resembles the space and emotion that Josi experiences. It is tall enough for most viewers to enter and tight enough for the space to be imposing upon the audience. The door of the box can close behind you, meaning that inside can become very dark. This signifies seeing only darkness as the claustrophobic thoughts turn into panic. On every wall of the inside of the box there are blown up latex gloves filling the area. They are attached so that they are reaching out into the middle and reducing the space that is available.
When a person enters the box all the hands are reaching and grabbing them. Enacting the tight and restricted feeling you can get from claustrophobia. These hands make the viewer feel as if lots of people are surrounding them. This is a similar feeling that Josi’s experiences whenever she takes a tube journey.
